Transitional, Case Study

Transitional Appeal: Copper Corner

3,500 SQ. FT. | Mississauga, ON | Completed 2012

Project Overview

A true source of inspiration demonstrating how transitional home design can shine

This is our most popular image on all of our online platforms. It’s a traditional design executed in a simplistic way. It features the warmth of natural stone and a earthy colour palette, balanced by a simplistic roofline and a standout corner feature. Its traditional with a modern touch…the simplest definition of transitional design.

Traditional home front entry with angled stone, wood door and black frame windows.

On a heavily wooded corner lot in an established Mississauga neighbourhood sits this classic home. Dark painted wood emphasizes the bold rooflines, light-coloured stone adds warmth to the façade and the most outstanding feature, the leaded copper roof, adds character and maturity.

The copper not only adds aesthetic intrigue to the home, bringing out the charcoal colour of the stone, it plays a functional role as well. It is a highly durable material with an incredible lifespan. As the home ages, the leaded copper will change colour, developing a beautiful silvergray patina that will deepen over time.
