David’s House only has one fireplace. This was not an oversight, rather an intentional design detail. David wanted one focal point fireplace in the family room and felt multiple fireplaces scattered throughout the house would distract from the principal fireplace.
The fireplace was inspired by David’s cottage. Specifically, nights spent around the campfire on massive bedrock that make up much of his property in French River. He shipped in one of these bedrocks to be the hearth of the fireplace. Complete with a chimney clad with copper and floor-to-ceiling shelves that hold white birch firewood, David is able to recreate campfires at the cottage in his suburban family room.
