Stone, wood, copper – using natural resources on the exterior of the home was crucial in achieving the warmth and familiarity in the modern design. The use of these materials ensured the home was in keeping with the mature trees, lush greenery and traditional style homes that make up the neighbourhood.
A unique detail of the exterior is the “floating roof”. David maximized the visual impact of the roof by disconnecting it from the walls. He achieved this by only having dark metal panels or window touch the soffit, creating the illusion that the roof “floats” above the house.
